Goal
To transition a static design into a moving composition that reinforces meaning.
Objective
Using a previous typographic metaphor (ie Exercise 06.05: Type Families and Visual Reinforcement or Assignment 06.10: Type Families and Visual Reinforcement from ART 218), storyboard and animate a solution that reinforces the word’s meaning.
Background
- Krasne, p 159, 199–200, 239
- Dabner, p 62–91.
- Kane, p 52–73.
- Santoro, p 151–180
Exercise:
Using a previous typographic solution, brainstorm, storyboard and create a five (5) second animation that uses the elements and principles of design and motion to accentuate the solution. Transitions of form, position, scale are permissible. Solution must remain static on the screen area for approximately one second anywhere on the timeline. Limit color solutions to black and white only, no gray or color allowed, unless part of the animated motion.
Pay careful attention to the options you have in motion design, including spatial transformations, frame mobility, temporal manipulation, movement, exaggeration and relative movement. A short composition length allows time to make fine adjustments to the solution.
Technical Specifications
Create the animations at the following settings:
