Exercise
Login to your WordPress site. Click on the Appearance >Themes menu on the left side of the Dashboard. Choose “Add New” at the top of the Themes Window. Using the resulting menu and/or the Internet, find and install a theme from each of the following general categories:
- No (or very minimal) Style
- Typography centered (emphasis on readability)
- Magazine (several content types)
- Image oriented (several images)
- Image focus (large, primary focus)
- Responsive (mobile friendly)
- e‑Commerce (product organization)
Resist the urge to experiment with the menus, widgets, settings or customizations. These options will be addressed in later exercises.
Once uploaded, take a screen shot of each theme in use in the browser, upload the files to the appropriate D2L dropbox.
To take a screen-shot:
- Command-Shift-4-Spacebar: Takes a screenshot of the window, and saves it as a file on the desktop. The file will have a .png extension.
- Command-Shift‑3: Takes a screenshot of the entire screen, and saves it as a file on the desktop. The file will have a .png extension.
- Instead of using the keyboard shortcuts above, screenshots can be taken by using the Screenshot application included with Mac OS X. It is located at
/Applications/Utilities/Screenshot
or by searching via Spotlight in the upper right of the Mac screen. - For more information, please visit: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361
