Assignment 06.13: Motion Design

Goal

The goal of this assignment is to develop a sensitivity to the parameters of motion design.

Objective

The objective of this assignment is to animate the visual aesthetic produced earlier for the chapel backgrounds exercise.

Background Reading

Assignment

Plan, create, develop and produce an animated version of the chapel background. The solution should minimize the motion in order to keep attention on the video talent composited at a later time. The length of the entire animation is divided as follows: A maximum of three (3) second introduction, ten (10) one second numbers and the remainder of time as a closing, for a total of exactly 15 seconds.

Part One

Sketch a basic story board, developing a basic plan for the direction, amplitude and nuance of the motion. What elements are vital? What attributes are representative of the visual style? How brisk or slow should the elements move? What motion oriented design elements or principles relate to the visual? Does the visual need adjustment? What level of diversity do the middle ten numbers need? See Exercise 10.13: Chapel Countdown Backgrounds for further information.

Part Two

Using the storyboard as a guide, animate the background.

Part Three

Incorporate background sound into the solution. As with the added element of motion, the addition of sound requires the same decision making process to evaluate the impact sound plays on the solution.
