Exercise 14.08: CSS Backgrounds

Goal

To under­stand the sim­i­lar­i­ties and dif­fer­ences of back­ground attrib­utes in print and dig­i­tal deliv­ery media.

Objective

Cre­ate a sim­ple back­ground spec­i­men sam­ple using HTML, CSS and com­pat­i­ble tech­niques. Using two dif­fer­ent yet sim­i­lar sys­tems will cre­ate an oppor­tu­nity to see how the sys­tems have evolved over time.

Reading

Exercise:

Using skills learned in pre­vi­ous lessons and the sup­plied tem­plate files, cre­ate a series of back­ground image demon­stra­tions using var­i­ous tech­niques asso­ci­ated with HTML and CSS.

Part One

Using the base HTML file, link to the background.css file plus the pro­vided com­ments and spec­i­fi­ca­tions noted in the HTML file, reset the back­ground to cre­ate a spec­i­men sheet. You will need to cre­ate the nec­es­sary image files using an image edit­ing program.
