Assignment 04.06: Festival Poster

Goal

The goal of this assign­ment is to inte­grate the con­cep­tual mes­sage, image, text and con­tent into an impul­sive visual form.

Cre­ate a printed and elec­tronic poster for the South Tulsa Cin­ema Series Movie Night.

Assignment

Choose a movie from the list below, which reflects the theme of the series, Tulsa Time. Use this title, and the sub­ject of your cho­sen movie as a basis for devel­op­ing a full color, full bleed, 18 x 24 in printed poster and a 1920 x 1080 pixel elec­tronic sign to adver­tise the movie’s show­ing. Please include the fol­low­ing information:

Movie Choices:

Part One

Research the plot, set­ting and sum­mary of the film and brain­storm pos­si­ble imagery for your posters. Develop a con­cep­tual solu­tion to explain the main theme of the film. While you are only required to pro­duce one poster , the poster should pro­vide a fairly neu­tral frame­work for other con­tent and pre­sen­ta­tion of com­mon infor­ma­tion. Gen­er­ate sketches and rough dig­i­tal comps in enough detail to begin the cri­tique process. You are restricted to two type­faces, one must come from the restricted list pre­sented in class.

Part Two

Pre­pare your files at the proper size and set­tings. Print color poster proofs reduced to fit on 11 x 17 in paper, and tiled to full size images. on a black and white printer. Check for size, scale and accu­racy. Gen­er­ate a draft of the dig­i­tal sig­nage ver­sion as RGB JPG, printed on 11 x 17 in paper. (updated 10.16.2023)

Part Three

Deliver the final poster printed in color and tiled to the final 18 x 24 in size using 11 x 17 in paper. Upload PDF of printed poster and RGB JPG of elec­tronic sig­nage to appro­pri­ate D2L Dropbox.

Part Four

Make any nec­es­sary edits based on Part Three cri­tique. Part four will pro­vide large for­mat print­ing, but only one copy with no fur­ther edits. (updated 10.16.2023) Deliver the final poster in mul­ti­ple for­mats for dif­fer­ent pur­poses. Upload to appro­pri­ate D2L dropbox
